Hating Evil

Read Psalm 96:1 through 100:5

Published: May 25, 2017

Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked (Psalm 97:10).

People have to truly love the Lord before they can truly hate evil. A person naturally reacts to attacks on a dear friend or loved one. Likewise, those who love Jesus will hate evil, which is a direct attack against His holiness and majesty.

What does hating evil mean? It can mean publicly standing up for God’s truth in a sinful world. It can mean addressing a sin issue in someone’s life to bring restoration.

Hating evil may hit even closer to home. Sometimes it means taking a hard look at one’s one life and asking God to root out issues, attitudes, and actions that don’t please Him. Thankfully, loving Jesus and hating evil bring wonderful joy to God’s people.

Prayer Suggestion: Lord, please show me my sin. Help me repent and grow closer to You.
