Giving Thanks and Praise

Words are added and deleted to the dictionary every year. Outdated words that are no longer relevant give way to modern terms that have been created. But some words merely become ignored or fall out of favor with society. One word that seems to have gone out of fashion is thanksgiving. Sure, we have a national holiday that emphasizes the word, but the actual practice of giving thanks appears to be decreasing.

Christians, however, should never have a shortage reasons for which to thank God. They can thank Him for salvation, His presence in their lives, and an unending list of other reasons.

I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving (Psalm 69:30).

Unbelievers only see the world through the lens of fallen humanity, but Christians experience the freedom and joy of a relationship with Almighty God. Even in difficult times Christians know they can call out to Him for help and comfort.

As God’s children, let us be the example to the world of giving thanks and praise.

Challenge for Today: Thank God for a specific blessing He gives you today.
